Do I have to be a member to find a vacation rental?

Searching for a vacation property to rent is completely free of charge. Tell your friends!

How do I search for a vacation rental?

You can search for a rental: by location, by date, by activity, by rental type, by price range, or property I.D. #. The search feature is on the left-hand side of the screen. Click on the name of the type of search you are interested in.

How do I know if the dates I want are available?

Each listing has an Availability Calendar that is maintained by the property owner. You can view the calendar from the listing page and see which dates are booked (marked in red) and which dates are available.

Is there a map with directions available?

Each listing has a link to a MapQuest map. MapQuest offers maps and driving directions along with the capability to zoom in and out on a map to see the surrounding area.

You need to communicate directly with the owner, via e-mail or phone. All reservations will be handled by the owner.

Do I have to be a member to use this site?

That depends. If you are searching for a vacation property to rent, use of the site is completely free of charge. If you want to advertise a property with us, yes, you must sign up for an account. Your options are listed below:

1. Gold Membership - $99/year

The Gold Membership includes:

  • Your listing will be in the rotating top tier of property listings.
  • Nine photos of your property
  • One week as the “Featured Listing”.
  • One week as “Last Minute Special” (To give that great last minute deal)
  • Availability Calendar
  • Mapquest link that gives a map & directions to your property.
  • Hit counter showing the number of viewings of your listing.
  • Access to listing & optional features 24 hours a day.
  • Website link to your own website. (If available)
  • Multiple search functions: by location, activity, rental type, price range and date available.

2. Silver Membership - $69/year

The Silver Membership includes:

  • Your listing will be in the rotating second tier of property listings.
  • Six photos of your property

What payment options exist for paying my YourTimeAway.com membership dues?

YourTimeAway.com offers the option of paying on-line with either a major credit card or a verified PayPal account.

Why do I need a username and password?

The username and password are required for your protection. They are only needed when you are accessing the Owner’s Area of the site. The Owner’s Area is where you administer your account and maintain your listings.

What happens if I forget my username or password to the Owner’s Area?

If you forget your username or password, click on the link “Did you forget your password?” directly beneath the Owner’s Area log in box. You will be directed to a page that will offer you the option to either type in your username to retrieve your password or to give details about yourself to retrieve your password.
Will I be notified when my subscription expires?
Yes, you will be notified via e-mail 30 days, 14 days, 2 days and then again 1 day before your membership expires.

[PROPERTY LISTINGS]

How do I list my vacation rental?

Sign up for a free trial membership. Your username and password will be sent to the e-mail you specify. Sign into our Owner’s Area and click on “Add vacation property.” Follow the 3 easy steps and voila, your listing will be available on our site.

What owner information is listed?

If you include a phone number and web address in your contact information, these items will be listed with your property. You have the option of selecting an alternative phone number and e-mail with each listing.

What is the process for getting paid for a rental?

You determine how to get paid. YourTimeAway.com does not accept payments for owners. Payment is handled between the owner and the renter. For each listing, the owner can specify what types of payments are accepted (I.e. Cash, Check, Credit Card, or PayPal).

How do I update my listing?

To edit an existing listing, click on “View property listings.” Find the listing that you would like to edit and click on “Edit Listing,” “Manage Photos” or “Edit Activities and Amenities.”

Is there a calendar assessable for a renter to check availability?

YourTimeAway.com has an availability calendar that you can update each time a renter books a vacation. Go to the Owner’s Area and log in. Next click “View property listings.” Select the calendar icon for the property that you would like to edit. You have a choice of either booking dates or making dates available.

How do I make a listing a “Featured Listing?”

To make a listing a “Featured Listing,” click on ““View property listings.” Then click on “Make Listing a Featured Listing.” You will be notified that it will cost $10.00 for one week of special advertising. Click OK. Then you will be taken to a secure site to pay by PayPal or Credit Card.

How do I make a listing a “Last Minute Special?”

To make a listing a “Last Minute Special,” click on ““View property listings.” Then click on “Make Listing a Last Minute Special.” You will be notified that it will cost $10.00 for one week of special advertising. Click OK. Then you will be taken to a secure site to pay by PayPal or Credit Card.

[UPLOADING PHOTOS]

What size and types of pictures are recommended for best performance?

For best performance, JPGs and GIFs no larger than 300 pixels wide and 72 resolution are optimal. If you are unable to resize your photographs, the upload procedure will do it for you. However, this may cause a slight distortion in your photos. JPG and GIF are the only file formats uploadable to YourTimeAway.com. They are the commonly used and accepted formats for web images.

How do I upload pictures?

There are two places to upload photos within the Owner’s Area. The first is during the second step of adding a vacation property. After step 1 is complete, you will be taken to a page that will ask you to browse your computer and select an image to upload. Once the image is uploaded, you will have the option of making the image your featured image, deleting the image or uploading another image. When you are satisfied with your images, continue on to step 3. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO UPLOAD IMAGES AT THIS POINT, SIMPLY CLICK ON “CONTINUE TO STEP 3.” You will be able to upload photos later.

To upload photos to an existing listing, click on “View property listings.” Find the listing that you would like to edit and click on “Manage Photos.” You will need to browse your computer to find the image that you would like to edit. Once the image is uploaded, you will have the option of making the image your featured image, deleting the image or uploading another image.

How can I advertise my vacation property - directing customers to my listing?

Each property has a unique ID. You can direct customers to this URL: http://www.yourtimeaway.com/vacation/index.cfm?ID=XX, replacing the “XX” with your property ID. Or you may advertise http://www.yourtimeaway.com/propertyID.cfm and include your property ID. (Your property ID is listed beneath the title of your listing.)
